I have just bought this from a seller in Germany. It is the same basic pattern as the others except that there is no map pocket and there are two [original] side pockets. The buttons are held on with wire loops and the bottom fastens with four snaps rather than the hooks and loop. The lining is black wool. The leather is aniline probably goat skin

Just need your Rocketeer helmet with that.

It does have 'that' vintage feel to it John. You'd look very at home with Jennifer Connolly on your arm and a rocket pack on your back :)
Now get the riding breaches and high boots to finish it off.

My experience living with one

I have lived in one of these. Other than my decidedly non-period but excellent Darien jackets, this is one of the best garments a motorcyclist could wear (22 years in the saddle). Never could bring myself to fill the "map pocket" with a pistol, despite utility of that idea. The Mauser C96 won't fit, nor the S&W 1917 .45 (the Colt version drops rounds through when no half moon cllip is available), but a niiice Mauser .32 maybe... (per CCW, of course). Smiling Mink oil for maintenence, ride in the rain to clean.
