A few questions:

Should the color of the shades match the hat? I have charcoal and brown (acorn or fawn depending on the site) fedoras, and was wondering if I should wear amber shades with the brown hat and black with the charcoal?

I was thinking about aviators, though I do like the 'wraparound' - not because of the style but because it blocks the sun better. Are there more classic shades that would meet this criteria?

I don't think it necessary. I've worn my tortoise Wayfarers (brown lens) with blue, green, tan and gray Fedoras with no issue at all. Looks great with everything IMO.

Tortoiseshell were good enough for Jake Blues..... (few people notice that detail, but only Elwood wore black Wayfarers - Jake's were tortie).

I wear round shade with my fedora, if only because I want to be different. ;)

They're actually a shaded version of my regular glasses, I ordered them from the same place.

For those who appreciate great optics and have big wallets - Check out Maui Jim Cat III's for a Wayfarer inspired look. Pau Hana's look nice, too.

OK, Thanks to Buler, I not only checked out Wayfarers but also Persol, not to mention a few other brands but the two mentioned above gathered the bulk of my attention...

I finally decided on this one from Persol.....

Of course I had to have the Polarized Tortise colored ones .

Fantastic look, T Rick--great combo of shades and fedora!
Thanks!

Completely agree with Chinaski--these have been my only (prescription) sunglasses and work quite well with my fedoras and my panama.
I agree completely, those are what I ended up buying (light tortoise, brown lens). But with a Beret, I have finally found the perfect situation for these Bolle sunglasses I've had for a couple if years but hardly worn.

Just got a new pair and decided to revive this thread.

Love my Wayfarer. First pair of prescription sunglasses back in 96 was Wayfarer and here I am 20 years later with (roughly) the same glasses. The tortoise shell at the bottom are a second pair I bought back in 96 when I wore contact lenses from time to time. The middle pair is from roughly 07 from lenscrafters. I hate those guys. You can see how banged up they are. Polarizing is just a film stuck to the actual lenz. The top ones are my new “New Wayfarer”. I ended up going to Costco (family of 6 with one income, need to save money where you can) and was dreading choosing some x name brand of sunglasses. But was overjoyed when I discovered they carried Ray Ban and Wayfareres. Not the classic but a bit of a modern twist to them. Honestly they seem like a combination of Wayfarer and Predator 2. I Like them all the same.
