Sunglasses that work well with a Fedora?

Is it at all possible to pair a more modern pair of sunglasses with a fedora? My facial shape doesn't do well for larger-lensed sunglasses and I was just curious how a smaller pair of shades would do with a brimmed hat. Granted, this kind of kills the "vintage" aspect of the style, but I was wondering if it could, theoretically, be stylistically compatible to match a pair of ray-bans (with much smaller or narrower lenses) with a fedora-styled Panama in the summer months.

(I tend to wear smaller sunglasses to match my Eurasian features, and because the index in my left eye is startlingly high.)

I like the old fashioned glasses anyway ... from the Rayban look to little round or oval ones ... and I like aviator looks.
Personally, I think a classic fedora looks best with glasses that hark back to the 40s, but that's just personal taste.

I will confess that I have brown and black in the plastic frames and silver or brass in metal to go with browns or greys, etc.

I realize that doesn't matter to anyone else but me. I've yet to have someone comment that my glasses and hat sure do match well.

It's just something else to think about before leaving the house in the morning, I guess.

I hope you don't mind me saying you look very handsome in your pictures Atticus Finch :)

That shot with him and the shotgun is a killer photo (no pun intended). That is a great looking hat and coat, the whole thing put together. We should all look so good in our hats. But if you hit it right, like that, it's fun.

I think so or at least I hope so....

Obviously, he was being a Gentleman and "averting his eyes" as it were.

Since starting this thread, I settled on the light tortoise Wayfarers with brown G15 lenses. Great look, I just need to get a decent pic to add to the thread. Here's a rather bad cell phone pic from a road trip of a couple weeks ago. The sunny look (and open sunroof) give away the fact that I'm currently far from home, temporarily relocated to South Florida.

Hat above is the Stetson Nostalgia, ran into some other pics I'd forgotten about from chilly Michigan, Stetson Standard Quality from the 30's/40's.

Probably unobtanium - you'd have to have 'em made - but Nicholson's rimless shades go admirably with his hat in Chinatown. It really gives him a look of the late '30s.
I've tried my Wayfarer style and my aviator style and they just don't look quite right with my fedora. I believe this lens shape and size is about right for a fedora. Have a thing for sunglasses-though buy "knock-offs," so have a few to choose from and have a variation on the aviator style with narrow tortoise shell stems that is similar to this. However, my favorite style overall is the Wayfarer. Earl

On the other hand, decided to pull out of the closet my outback hat I hadn't worn in some time and slapped it on my head while wearing the Wayfarers and discovered that Wayfarers do work with the outback style.:eyebrows: Earl

If you want the sunglasses Johnny Depp wears they are MOSCOT. He may wear vintage but he wears these a lot. He wears the Lemtosh model. Check 'em out.
