MODS IF IN THE WRONG LOCATION PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!!

First off, my 2nd or 3rd post...Awesome.

Okay, so my dilemma...I have lost a lot of weight over the past few years and I am finally able to start dressing the way I really have wanted most of my life...1940-50s ish...with a twist of today...best way of explaining it...back on track...so I need to buy a new wardrobe for the summer...since last summer I have dropped 10 pants sizes...and well...I have no clue what to wear. I am thinking something 40s/50s-ish...but I have no clue what men really wore during that time...any tips or advice would be great. I purchase mostly all of my clothes through dickies, and granted I love my history and style of growing up in mexican hoods, but I want something different then a shaved head, dickies shorts, and Adidas this summer.I want to be in something a 27 year old man should be wearing...if any of yall catch my drift.

I dress very , as my pops says, "rocker" style from when he was a kid...he is in his late 60s...to give you an idea. Basically toned down rock-abilly...no crazy hair, no crazy patches, just simple. I would like to carry that over to the summer, but I have no real clue how to accomplish this. I have tried google, and I am having some difficulties finding good imagery.

Thank you all in advance.

Hey Mr E.

Do you want to stay with your "Rocker" style or do you want to get a but more classic? The question could also be: "Jeans or suits?"

You could also start with chinos. In my opinion they are between dress trousers and jeans and fit perfectly with fedoras and other golden era stuff.
It's your choice if you mix them with with this twotone bowler shirts or "real" dress shirts or even t-shirts.

For suits:

For vintage lookin jeans and fitting stuff:

Maybe: http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?t=48286

PS: I don't find the thread for vintage chinos...? I wanted to look for some brands myself.

Edit: This one? I thought it was longer

I would prefer to stay with jeans, and the "working man" look. Thank you for the links, I will be checking them out when I have a bit more time.

Run a search for photo posts by Diego (screen name : Djgo-cat-go) in the "What are you Wearing Today" and "What Hat are you Wearing Today" sections. He's got a killer style that's an almalgam of quasi-rockabilly/workwear/hipster that I'm going to go for in my next life. :D

Hey, wow, I feel flattered rmrdaddy.. but I don't think it's the look mr. E is after.. I think Dinerman's right. Have a look in the classic workwear-thread.. And I think Dinerman's a much better reference for that sought after summer-look..:

change the name of this thread, I keep thinking it's going to be something tropical and relavent to the upcoming season.
