Stretch a wool hat?

The good: You guys have me hooked. I recently purchased my first vintage hat.
The bad: I won the hat on eBay, and it's too small.

Can this hat, a wool Cavanagh, be stretched a size or two?

Yes it is posible, you need take away the band o ribbon, submerge hat in cold water, put the hat, step by step in a mold (tool hat to size) and adjusting till get the wished size, you need make with care because the adjusting can torn the wool woven, one time wich hat is in size wanted, tie with cord the border - brim hat, till turn dry. That sounds fairly involved and tricky. I'm in Chicago, so I think I'll take the hat down to Optimo and let the experts have a crack at it.

With a cloth hat like that, there's not a huge buyers market, so they can generally be had relatively inexpensively. Stretching it would probably take more time and money than its worth.

Hi¡¡¡ the best experience in use hats, is have own styles.
If you bought a used hat, don´t doubt, restaure it and design a own style, the movie stars get hats in any place, no great quality and film a picture. When folks see movie, whole run to get the star hat, altough this hat had aquired in the most low bargain, you design hats to own self. It is the best experience in wear hats.
