Hi all, new to the forum. Zappos sent me a free $25 gift certificate, so I bought a cheap goorin bro straw fedora for the summer. I really like the hat, but it comes with a full satin type liner. I live in Austin, so it is hot hot hot all the time. Is it safe to take the liner out? I feel like it just makes my head hotter. The straw is kind of rough (not like raffia), but it isn't snug on the sides or top of my head.

Feel free to take it out. It's your hat. Liners can be attached a variety of ways so just make sure you don't take a piece of the hat with it when you pull it out.

I agree. Why have a straw hat with a liner? Even a real tightly woven Panama hat can be really hot on occasions. An added suggestion is to always carry a nice handkerchief with you. That way you can keep the sweat band dry. Carry another clean handkerchief as per the movie, "The Intern".
