In THE COWBOY HAT BOOK by Reynolds and Rand page 106, a gold pasteboard hat box, marked Stetson 100...just like the silver type.

Well, then, that is another story! If the 100 didn't always come in the hard sided, luggage-type case then the one I have could well have been from a 100 at some point, too. Interesting and thanks for the info.

OK, I put in the foam oval shape so that the hat sits on the brim by the crown instead of the hat laying flat on the whole brim...

This is working very nicely, actually.

That is a VERY interesting case !! What would the date (s) that particular style was used for the 100 ?

Another 100 case

Here is another style 100 case. Gold on the outside, red inside. Leather handle. Covered with a cellophane that likes to shrink, crack, and then peel. Does say Stetson 100 inside lid.

I seem to remember some talk of a $1500 Stetson but couldn't find the post(s). Here are a few ads from 1954/1955 talking about what seems to be 2 different limited (expensive) editions.

Very cool, Buler. The "43 skilled workers" part is probably a bit of puffing, as I'm sure most hats were handled by as many skilled folks along the line between fur sorting and boxing. Still, that must have been one heck of a hat.
