Stetson narrow brim palm fiber

Bought a Stetson narrow brim palm fiber hat today (Bernie Utz, Seattle).

Nice hat, except that when you turn the front of the brim down, there seems to be a bit of a bulge (of the brim material) between the edge of the brim and the bottom of the crown. Will I be able to reduce that bulge by steaming the brim?

You might be seeing what is normal for a snapped down brim. Steaming the brim could make it too flat.
Try to post a picture if possible.

I believe what you are speaking of is common with this type of straw. I also have noticed this type of 'bulge' on straws that are set on their brims. It seem to push that part of the brim up.
I have seen photos of hats on the bay that looked this way. If I should run across any I will try to post a few.

Finally, the picture

Here is a picture of the hat:

You can see the bulge on the front of the brim on the right side of the picture. I would like to flatten that bulge a bit.

Thanks!

I have a similar hat, the Stetson Latte, though made of milan. It also has the bound brim and I tend to believe, because that is how I wear them and also how it was displayed, that the brim was designed to be worn up! I tried it with mine and I have the same kind of bulge when the brim is down. I also have another Stetson milan, without the bound edge, and the brim folds down fine, as it was in the store.

I think the hat looks fine as is. It appears to be a normal curve due to the snapped down brim.
Wear it around a bit before you change it.
