Hi to all,
i know that this could be the wrong forum to tell this, but there is the story:
...anyone could remember that I have an Stetson 3xBeaver western hat; I was looking for a light color felt hat for spring weather then I cut the brims of my Stetson and I 've reshaped it into a fedora shape.
Now it is very similar to an OR, it has not the brim edge, but it is, now, quite a nice hat.
The last wednesday me and my wife are been in Rome for a job meeting, and then we went in Pompei, the city near Napels (Napoli) buried by the Vesusio eruption on 70's Before Christ.
I wore my stetson in a very beautiful sunny day, it work very well, it keeps the sun far from my eyes and my nose!
Where I was there,my friends, I've thought to you, I've taken some photo that i would like show to you:
Here are they:

This is the rest of Pompei with the Vesuvio

This is the rest of an living in Pompei person that was buried by the lava during the euption.

This one is the faun face into the " Faun's house":

This one is a little cruel, I leave only the link, it show the face of the man buried by the magma, it is a close image!!!!

Best wishes.

Ah, Pompei; one of my favorite places; so solemn, so beautiful.
Great photos, and I must agree with everyone else. As J. Peterman said, "I'm afraid I really need to see that hat." :)

The Last Days of Pompei!

Hi Mr. Ric!

Great shots of the Last Day of Pompei! This is one for the "Steamer Trunk" or "Display Case" section, maybe.

Where is Riccardo and familia in those pictures? Where is the Stetson?!

Great pix! Great Hat!

Riccardo,
Thanks for sharing your travels and your hat with us! Pompeii is a great place to put things into perspective. Nothing like a great hat to remind us to enjoy life while we have it! Your look great in your hat, even when you're tired!:eusa_clap

That settles it

After seeing that photo I think my next project will be converting a light colored cowboy hat into a fedora, too. I bet they are easier to acquire than Open Roads and Stratoliners right now. Great job!

Good idea,Russ.
To reshape my stetson was quite easy, I think I've done a good job.
I've cut the brim, pounced a few with sand paper, brush...with a lot of steam I've reshaped the crown....
I'm happy of my job.
That was my first experience.

Best regards.
Riccardo.
