You feeling okay?? Good to see you around again, feels like it’s been a while.

Haha yeah, I just find OR's feel kind of small to me - I have a few older 3X OR's that I wear but with the pristine condition of this one it's hard to give it head time. I also have a 7X 3x6 that I wear more often so I'm going to see if someone wants to pony up a nice western instead. If not I will probably keep it rather than selling but we shall see

It's been a hell of a difficult year man so I haven't been around or really in the hat game much but starting to look again. I have been following your growing collection though. That one site has been good to you, don't forget about me if you see anything in my size :)

A later 7xcb with a square black size tag. Very light weight and thin felt, also on the stiffer side. Took some steam to reshape as it came as a telescope crown. I felt the need to show off the crown height, so here we are with a higher pinch/teardrop. I’m a big fan of the dimensions on this one as well as the thin cord.

I just bought a hat, the seller told me that his father bought it in 1976 in El Paso, TX.

Does anyone know anything about 7X clear beaver stetson? how good quality hat is it? or where can I find information about this?

Welcome to the Lounge with a great hat.

Yes, the 7X CB thread linked above has all the info you need.

In general and in brief, this was a top of the line and well regarded hat at the $50 price point. For reference, a very nice 3X was priced at $15 during the same period. Only the Stetson 100 was priced higher at $100.

This one could be a 50s (probably) or 60s (maybe) hat, definitely top quality.

All the best,
Daniel

I have a '50s Open Road of the same designation, it's a superbly high quality felt, easy to shape, beautifully smooth, dense but fairly thin and very lightweight. I can't speak for the quality of the '70s felt, I'd assume it's not as high as in previous decades.

Beautiful classic Western Stetson, I'd snap one up like yours in a second if I found an earlier one in my size at a reasonable price !

Daniel,

Thanks a lot.

I have some idea of the quality of a 7X CB, but I am not an expert.

I can definitely learn from many at Fedora Lounge.

Hey One Drop, Thanks.

Definitly you have a great hat, the OR is one of my favorites. I have one but it's a 3X. I hope to buy one 7X CB soon.

Without a doubt, having a hat of this quality is great. We really do have a piece of hat history

I thought I had already posted these 7X Clear Beaver hats but guess not. The 1st on left and 2nd in middle are about same date, about late 50's or so. The 3rd at right is at least 1960's. I'll show each.
