Last night as the peak of the Perseid's shower something like 60-80 meteors a minute, tonight will be less then that, probably around 40-50 meteors an hour.

One of the real drawbacks to living in a heavily urbanized area like Nw York is all the light pollution. When I looked at the relatively clear sky at midnight kast night, I saw exactly one star. I miss them!
BTW, this can also be Northern Lights season. Try looking due north late at night, you might see them. You have to be pretty far north to see them though. But I would think the British Isles would be perfect, if you can find some really clear dark sky.
