STAR A2

My original Star A2 arrived today from Canada. I only paid for it on thursday, so pretty fast postage to the UK! It is a size 42 and is not the very dark brown of most Stars I have seen. It is a chocolate colour, very similar to my United Sheep Lined A2. The leather is in great condition and is starting to soften after one coat of Hamanol. The lining is OK, buts needs a little sewing under the arms and at the neck. The Talon zip works well. The waistband is in very good condition apart from one moth nip. The sleeves knits need replacing. Pictures to follow.

My question is how rare is this particular contract? I understand it was smaller than most.

The jacket belonged to Louis M Frey, who enlisted as a private in 1942 in WILKES BARRE PENNSYLVANIA.He was aged 32 and was a clerk in his civilian life. I guess he held the rank of sergent. Any more info on him would be appreciated.

Beautiful and not easy to find. The contract is hard to find, at least for me. I have only had one in my size and it was in terrible condition. Well done Andrew.

I have just fitted replacement cuffs on my Star. Gary Eastman charged me £16, which includes postage. It took me approximately 10 mins to remove the old cuffs, and 30 minutes to pin them and sew them on using my sewing machine. I carefully hand sewed the lining at the end. The whole process took under an hour.
