What exactly was Sta-Comb? I've read it was some sort of hair oil that LBJ used on his hair, but I can't find any trace of it today (unlike say Brylcreem or Wildroot, which are still available decades later). Does anyone have any experience with Sta-Comb; What would be the closest sort of hair cream or hair oil close to it today?

Never heard of it, but most brands of hair oil were made of olive oil with some kind of scent. Other popular ingredients were lanolin and alcohol.

Sta-Comb may have been a Texas brand or regional brand not sold outside the south.

It was heavily advertised in its day, but production seems to have stopped about 50 years ago. It would seem the peak of its popularity was in the 1920s.
