Spooky music for Halloween!

It's almost that time of the year when the worlds of the living and dead collide on Allhallows Eve

Having brought up mysterious, ghostly short-wave radio 'numbers stations' here:

I thought I'd ask which music (preferably vintage or with some vintage link) and/or audio you find disturbing or unsettling.

The Caretaker: "The Memory of a Song" This 'hauntology' artist reworks 1920's 78rpms to create spooky moods in an effort to understand how memory works. His music has been described as being like 'the mind of an Alzheimers patient trying to recall'.

Penderecki: "Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima." This piece was designed to capture the terror of a nuclear strike.

I'm partial to so-called "Dark Ambient" music for my creepiness fix, a sort of electronic noise music that relies on mood-inducing sound effects - but as we go for the vintage feel, "Varde" by Elegi is supposed to be inspired by those brave, foolhardy expeditioneers from the so-called Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration. In context it's more emotional than creepy, but it'd be plenty effective in a haunted house or trick-or-treating yard.

And of course, "Jeepers Creepers" will never be same for me after the surprisingly effective modern horror film of the same name.

Out of interest, which Dark Ambient artists/albums do you like?

My favorite artist (comprising the bulk of my owned collection) is Svarte Greiner, and my favorite album is likely Knive. I've been looking into other artists on Svarte Greiner's label, Miasmah recordings (such as the aforementioned Elegi), especially stuff pre-2004, much of which is now free on archive.org or soundcloud.com. My Pandora station throws the likes of Phon and Attrition at me with success, though I know at least the latter deals primarily in other genres. Unfortunately, like many of my interests, I haven't given it the time to become the varied expert of many artists - but I do know I'm hooked on the genre. Are you yourself familiar? Any suggestions?

OT: Simply due to his utter classiness, I'm going to pretend Tom Waits has a vintage feel and recommend "What's He Building In There?"

I find some of the music used in old radio-dramas to be quite spooky. I'm thinking specifically of shows such as "The Shadow", "Mercury Theater on the Air", "The Whistler", and so-forth.

The Mercury Theater on the Air used Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1, as its opening theme...

It's VERY hard to find a recording of this, but somehow, through a LOT of research, I have managed to download an original, vintage orchestral recording of "Omphale's Spinning Wheel". This old opera-piece was used as the haunting organ music in the radio program: "The Shadow".
