Chromed stud work for Cycle Champ.

Can anyone direct me to a UK-based company (simply to save on shipping; if there's a good non-UK company, tell about that one, too) who sells chromed stud work for leather jackets?

I have a 50s Cycle Champ copy that needs a couple of replacements. Specifically these are about an inch long rectangular and about 1/4 inch wide fastening through the leather with one prong at either end. I have attempted Google searches for "leather jacket stud" and the like and well, you can imagine the results …

Hmm. I used to find these quite easily in the States, but here... Try a haberdasher's - perhaps one of the ones on Berwick Street (if you're in London) or a trawl around Camden. An ebay search for chrome spots or nailheads might turn up something, though probably in the US. Or else you could buy a cheapo punk belt and cannibalize it.

I'm thinking of making a mini rocker jacket for one of my kids, so if you have any luck, let me know.

'Punk' is the keyword for searching for these things

I was going to say 'check out the punk shops down the King's Road,' and then I remembered I was thinking about 30 years ago...

Ah, well, at least Punx Not Dead. Undead, possibly.

When I last bought a clatter of studs for various costume pieces, I got them in Gohills in Camden (on the Chalk Farm Road - turn right out of Camden Town Tube, and you'll hit them just *before* (I think) the bridge). They specialise in leather belts, bags, etc, and they had a good range of studs. I doubt somewhere like the Black Rose would carry the type of thing you're after.

The one place I can think of that I've actually seen that sort of old-school, flat rectangular stud on a jacket in recent years was Aero's Elvis model - might be worth a call to them if those other sites don't turn up exactly what you're after?

ETA: looked at those links, they seem to have exactly the thing, even if it does mean you'll be hit by the Curse of the Multipack.

ha ha, i suspect i'd rather have a bag of a billion studs the wrong size than go to Camden, Ed. Man i hate that place. Just a haven of drooling schoolkids these days, though there are 2 stores with some fantastic vintage in the market. The shops you mentioned, will they sell studs individually? This "Cycle Champ" needs only 4. (And some material for the lining, but that's not for here.)

Thanks much chaps. These links were exactly what i needed. :eusa_clap
