This is a fascinating look at the final days of Sophie Scholl.

IMDB says: "2005 Academy Award Nominee for Best Foreign language Film, Sophie Scholl The Final Days is the true story of Germanys most famous anti-Nazi heroine brought to thrilling dramatic life. Sophie Scholl stars Julia Jentsch in a luminous performance as the fearless activist of the underground student resistance group, The White Rose.

Armed with long-buried historical records of her incarceration, director Marc Rothemund expertly re-creates the last six days of Sophie Scholls life: a heart-stopping journey from arrest to interrogation, trial and sentence in 1943 Munich. Unwavering in her convictions and loyalty to her comrades, her cross-examination by the Gestapo quickly escalates into a searing test of wills as Scholl delivers a passionate call to freedom and personal responsibility that is both haunting and timeless.
"

Sophie Scholl consistently tops the list of the most admired people in German history and is most often is number one on the list at German universities. She is an inspiration, especially in these modern politically charged times.

"Of course, the terrible things I heard from the Nuremberg Trials, about the six million Jews and the people from other races who were killed, were facts that shocked me deeply. But I wasn't able to see the connection with my own past. I was satisfied that I wasn't personally to blame and that I hadn't known about those things. I wasn't aware of the extent. But one day I went past the memorial plaque which had been put up for Sophie Scholl in Franz Josef Strasse, and I saw that she was born the same year as me, and she was executed the same year I started working for Hitler. And at that moment I actually sensed that it was no excuse to be young, and that it would have been possible to find things out." -Traudl Junge, Hitler's Secretary 1942-1945

I love this movie so much. It was so well done. I made my sister watch it and she loved it also. My favorit part was when she was explaining her dream to Elsie. I could go on forever about this movie. I"ve recommended it to everyone I know. Now if only I could find The White Rose on DVD or Video.

I am currently reading The White Rose by Inge Scholl.

Excellent film. Great acting all around, but for me the actor who played her interrogator stood out. His last scene with her, just before her execution, I found particularly moving.

I agree. I heard that he and Elsie wrote letters to the Scholl family after Sophie and Hans were murdered. I have read Elsie's letter but I can't find his.
