Something from the attic of wonder...

A man in a truck brought me something in a box yesterday that looks like this:

It's from johnnyphi's stash of vintage hats. I know of another one or two that have escaped captivity. Johnny tells me that there are also some 4X grade Schobles, too, with even better felt than this one. I know many of you have probably gotten impatient with the time it's taking him to process the hats. I say that because I was, too. But after a number of PM exchanges it really is an unbelievably daunting job he has to sort through all of what he has.

I've not yet been willing to touch the Schoble's pristine open crownness. I'm thinking of something Bogey inspired, though. Thoughts?

Forgive me for voicing my opinion, and please correct me if I'm out of line, but it seems to me that while the vast majority of Loungers have been standing with their noses pressed to the window for the last few months, drooling at the treasures on the other side of the glass, several of the cool kids have been allowed inside to partake to the (temporary?) exclusion of the others.

I find this a little disturbing. Am I being neurotic? Any other neurotics out there?

Thanks, folks. I've been playing around with the crease tonight. It takes dry creasing very well. There won't be any need to dampen it. I'm wanting to go for a hand bashed look anyway. Of course, that's all I'd be able to do!

Johnny told me that any of the hats that he's posted pics of are available for sale, but it's simply a matter of logistics in getting hats processed. He's got a lot of hats and mentioned he may be getting some help with some of it.

^He set the price. He had some nicer stuff than I bought that was beyond my reach at the moment. He has hats of various brands (from Adam to Stetson Deluxe) and in various conditions (moth bitten to pristine). As I mentioned there are even different grades within the same brands. Mine is a 2x and he also has 4x Schobles (not seen pics of those, though).

I think I read where he stated in another thread that the largest he had was 7 1/2, but don't quote me on that.

I suppose that that's the risk that one takes when announcing that one possesses a bounty of hats on a forum that madly lusts after them.

Suffice it to say that I eagerly, but patiently, await your presentation of your inventory in the hopes of something grey or a nice deep brown in 7 1/2 might be there.

Oh dear, I guess that it's just irresistible.

I really do believe there will be something for everyone in my collection... brand, size, style, quality, condition, price... It will all work out.

I'm sorry for being so skeptical, but exactly how is this going to "all work out"? How many Lounge members might be interested in your fedoras? Fifty? A hundred? More? Exactly how do you plan on managing all the inquiries? It seems to me that the fairest and most logistically sound method of selling these hats is by auction. Just my .02 - I could be wrong. I've been wrong before.[huh]

Anybody else want to chime in on this...?
