Something for my feet instead of my back this time

I had planned on buying these around the first of the year, but my old black Danner Mountain Light II's sole is not going to make it through another winter. My current Mountain Light II's will be sent back to Danner for refurb and sole replacement. I got four years out of the sole on the first pair. $130 for new sole and refurb from Danner.

As much as I love Meindl boots from Germany, these Danners are like house slippers after break-in. They are pretty rough on your feet for the first 12 or 15 miles though and break-in is not pleasant.

These are the exact same boot but in brown this time. I liked the green laces, what can I say.

I love my Danners (8 pair) and my Meindls (just 1) I have worn Meindls as my work/light hiking shoe (lots of walking). The first pair lasted 25 years (4 rebuilds before I retired them) My 'new' pair are 10 years old and due for their 3rd rebuild. I wear most of the Danners for dress casual with 1 pair of hikers.

This new pair of Danner's is only my second pair, but I liked the Mountain Light II's so much I thought I'd buy another pair while the first are being refurbed.

I have two pair of the Meindl Island GTX, one in brown and the other in anthracite, and a pair of the Ortler boot. The Ortler's I try to keep nice and I don't wear them in the muck but they are pretty tough boots to break in too. I've had them for about three years and they are still not broken-in yet as I don't wear them very often. But, they do still look new.
