Had an interesting thing just happen. Won an auction and someone popcorned in the last 5 sec...which is fine...and expected. Part of the game. So I was curious who the comp. was and clicked their auction history. 35+ hats since Jan. (where the visible links ended).

It looks like a vintage hat business in the making. I'm not speaking out of turn as this is all public record on the site...though I will stop short of posting their ID. I wonder if they are memebrs here? hmmmmmm

M

PS...sorry if this isn't the forum area to post this...but since it was hat related...

That wasn't hard to figure out.
Looks like most of the hats are size 6 7/8 to 7,
with only a few outliers. I'd guess it's someone
who wants to wear 'em.

Kinda wish someone would set up a reputable,
knowledgeable vintage hat store. We had one
here once upon a time, but no more.

Sorry you missed that Borsalino straw. Cool block.

Well I didn't figure it would be....but as I said...public record so I don't think I am crossing lines. Hey...if they ahve the ability to suck those up....more power to them...wish I had the size availbity and $$ to do the same! (A bit jelosu here! lol) And yes...That vintage straw was a sweetie and wonderful block...I fully agree.

Hat promiscuity

I've seen (and griped about) the same phenomena - Certain same old Ebay bidders buying EVERY FREAKING HAT THAT COMES UP FOR AUCTION. Fine. That is, as you say, part of the game. But...

People who say that rising prices on Ebay are a good indication that more people are taking to wearing hats are mad, simply mad. :p :icon_smil :p :icon_smil

Rising prices on Ebay mean that more hats are being stock-piled by the same handful of people (looking forward to that day when civilization falls into ruin and the hat becomes currency). Which is fine too... also all part of the game (what game are we talking about by the way: Hat-stacking? Hidey hats? Hat-me-got-nah-nah?)

Now, if going to the past office weren't such a mind-crushing bore I'd put some of my too-big-a-collection of hats up for auction and help the hat amassers amass, but did you know there is no drinking spitting or smoking in the PO. How tiresome.

Anyway... I don't need a lot of hats... I'm just looking for the right one, a hat I can spend the rest of my life with. *sigh*

BTW the price of Open Roads has become hilarious of late, and I bet it's got to do with Guild enthusiasm... ("gotta get into that guild"), but the Homburg is still mostly nicely priced at the final tap of the hammer.

I should stop sniffing O2.

Reputable comes after knowledgeable. I appreciate everyone's help in providing the knowledge, as this forum speaks for itself. I hope to get the reputable part down through positive experiences with everyone. Several have came to try us out already, and you have my sincere thanks! As my vintage collections grows at the site, please don't be shy about sharing any information. To Felt Fan in particular, thanks for the pointers!!!
