Since a "LIVE EBAY" auction is not allowed, I just wanted to mention an item I just saw on a well know internet auction site, (Key Word : Panama + Fedora).

There are two "vintage" hats for auction, the straw is completely cracked along the top shape of the teardrop. The felt is moth eaten so badly, the hole (yes HOLE) looks like you could push a pencil thru it.

The seller says "I don't know if you can repair a straw or fix a felt"....


So, to any Lounge member who may not know...the STRAW is junk, not repairable..and the FELT once mothed thru with a "hole", is junk. There is no "fix a flat" for a hat!lol

I always took the "live ebay" prohibition to be aimed at those trying to *promote* auctions here. Seems it should be okay to *warn* people about live auctions, or even to refer to them in a neutral manner (as interesting information, for instance).

Aren't I doing that? I did not post the link, and did not post the true name of the item, or try to ramp up the price, or help a seller

This post was to INFORM anyone that cracked straw and mothed felt is NOT REPAIRABLE, and to beware, lest you get burned.

I believe the issue was something along the lines of making the competition for nifty vintage items more even between a rich lounger and a not-so-rich lounger wasn't it?
