A while ago Andykev said that you can't repair a moth holed hat. Well that Disney hat struck me to be a lot like Charlie Brown's christmas tree. All it needed was a little love. I bid on it and won. Even though it had a hole, it seemed to me to be in just the right spot for a fix. I sent it on to Art for his opinion. There was still some life in that hat. It may not be the finest hat I own nor the most pristine, but when it first sat on my head I felt like I had been in all those smokey gin joints in all the far away places. It is a hat with an attitude.

So for you new to the lounge. Here are the Ebay befores:

Oh, and that beat up straw hat. I have a friend who absolutely loves to wear beat up straw hats. Totally made his day to get it. I guess it's true that one man's trash is another's treasure. Eric lol

So did Art put a wider ribbon on it to cover the hole? Or is the feather doing that?
I happen to own a thoroughly used Disney as well, and I feel about it much as you do about yours, Eric. It ain't the finest hat I own -- the edge binding is discolored and the felt is faded -- but danged if it ain't a great lid nonetheless. It's gotta be at least 60 years old and I'm tempted to get it drunk in the hopes it'll tell me about all the places it has been. (That's happened to me before, by the way. It's a magic elixir, that whiskey stuff.)
I got mine from a fellow Lounger here on the FL classifieds. Got it from the same guy who sold me another of my favorites. I mention this because I really, really encourage y'all to try selling stuff here before going the eBay route. Yeah, maybe you'll get less money for the hat (and maybe you won't), but at least you'll be more confident that your old hat is going to someone who truly appreciates vintage lids and who may one day return the favor.
