FOR SALE – black Dobbs Derby or Bowler – size 7-1/4. I bought this hat on ebay thinking it was a Homburg based on the photo (see “before” picture) and description, but when it arrived, it turned out to be a derby. I had it cleaned and re-blocked at Paris Hatters in San Antonio and it came out great – unfortunately, I have no need for a derby.
I am unsure of the age since I am not that familiar with Dobbs hats. The liner has some spots, as shown, and there is a clear cover over the logo. The sweatband shows some slight wear, but is in good condition, the markings are bright and clear, and all stitching in tact (when I received it, the size tag was taped to the inside of band and left it there). The ribbon edge and hatband show some fading from age, but not as bad as the photos indicate due to the late afternoon south Texas sun. In the right light, you can barely see the remnants of a slight “v” crease to the right rear of the crown – it is very difficult see and tried my best to capture IT in a photo.
Since I have no need for this very nice hat, I am offering it here to find it a good home (and attempt to get back the money I have invested in it) before it goes to ebay. I am asking $70 shipped in the U.S. If you are interested or have any questions, please email me at tpd_166@yahoo.com.
This hat before restoration by Paris Hatters – they do excellent work!
