Just curious what everyone wore to ring in the New Year.

New Years Eve: I wore a grey suit with a tweed vest, my cordovan oxfords, a nice grey derby, my cheeters and a nice gold pocket watch.

New Years Day: I wore a white club collared shirt, a cardigan, my white with blue pinstripes oxford bags, and my cordovan oxfords.

New Year's Eve: full white tie and tails (unlike it seemed every other guy in the place who had dressed in that manner, I left my top hat in the cloakroom along with my overcoat).

New Year's Day: pyjamas and quilted silk dressing gown.

Hate to Admit it...

I was feeling a bit under the weather, so stayed home.
Made up the bed fresh with linen sheets (a small indulgence that I love),put on Silks and was in bed reading when I heard fireworks going off.

I was well rested to start the New Year though....and no headache.

My mid-60s gray, pin stripe (red and blue), SB suit with medium-width lapels, along with a white shirt, dark blue, Dacron Polyester necktie w/an embroidered design and small gold/white flecks (Haband, 2 1/2" wide), gray socks with medium-blue flecks, and black Mezlan oxfords. No hat...When I entered Clifton's Cafeteria in downtown, an older man looked at me, and then commented to his friends, "That's what I mean. A cut like that." I took it as a vote of approval.:)

Jeans and a T-Shirt I was planning on spending the night at home till I got dragged to a party. Then my friends laughed at me all night saying for once I looked just like them. One friend told me that she didn't know I owned a T-Shirt.

A Marilyn-style halter dress, topped with a Betty Boop t-shirt, for my job of face painting at the big downtown shindig. I only worked till 11, but didn't feel the need to change once I got home. The Mr. and I had a wine toast at midnight, and went to bed shortly after.
Oh, I also wore my Dior tail coat to the event, in keeping with my annual tradition (it can be seen draped over my chair).

My avatar pic is from New Year's Eve a couple years ago, just home from the same job. A bit more formal with the pop-up top hat and all, but the same tail coat.

Button-down collar shirt, white, no tie, it was casual.
Khaki slacks
Cocoa brown cashmere, v-neck

Over everything, deep navy blue topcoat, tartan muffler, black gloves, "Indiana Jones" fedora, a gift from my kids. Most of the evening was spent outside, so I dressed to stay warm.

NYE: High-waisted vintage trousers in medium grey with an interesting pattern in the weave, a light grey sports coat from the '50s with a barely perceptible box plaid pattern of black and red, a white shirt with a long-ish straight collar, a maroon and creme bow tie, a charcoal grey fedora, and contemporary black wingtips.

New Year's Day: We were flying home, and so I skipped the tie, but I wore high-waisted vintage trousers of thick blue wool from the late '40s or early '50s, a plaid shirt of black, red, and grey, and the same grey sports coat, fedora, and shoes as the night before (note: I did NOT sleep in them).

Normally i'd stay home , i'm not a big fan of parties or any of that but i went out with some friends and wore the same old fed IV with an overcoat along with my latest ebay victory, the 9 dollar blue pinstripe (no pics of it yet). Well no one there thought it was 9 dollars and despite not expecting to get any attention but the hat served as a useful prop for positive attention. go figure.

For our family's Open House party on the 30th, I wore my bought last year red taffeta dressy blouse with big jeweled buttons with a short black sequined pencil skirt with back slit and black patent heels that have a grosgrain bow.

For NYEve night out dancing I wore the same blouse with a long black knit dress underneath to be a easy and elegant solution to dance in. Our 15yo DD wore a black satin and sequin CK long gown with matching sequin bolero style jacket. Our 13 yo DS wore his SB two piece tuxedo, my husband wore the same but with a fancy red dancer's print tie and cumberbund set:

Chanteuse, if that's how you look after a tough year, we should all have tough years. ;)
Anyhoo. For New Year's Eve Eve, I wore the old tuxeroo. For New Year's Eve, I went to the NY Gilbert & Sullivan Players' annual NYE Gala, at Symphony Space in New York. A good time is always had by all. My GF has been in their orchestra for something like 27 years. I wore my new blue blazer, with a pair of checked wool slacks that look grey at a distance, but are checked when you see them up close. Very soft and comfortable. Blue shirt and vintage bow tie completed the outfit. It was the bow tie (self tied, of course) that really made the outfit tho. For outerwear it was the trench coat and Borsalino. I wish I had pics, but sadly, no.

My friends insisted that the party be casual so I was in tan Khakis, white dress shirt, and brown on brown oxford saddle shoes and my brown Campdraft.

New Years day was Cabelas short sleeve safai shirt in tan and oak canvas jeans with new balance walking shoes watching the Rose Parade on TV, sighing over how great Stephanie Edwards still looks.

I only spent NYE with the family but nevertheless I wore grey flannels, a blue shirt, burgundy polka dot bow tie, 50s emerald waistcoat with a gold paisley pattern and just to make use of the watch hole I wore a modern pocket watch.

No fedora or jacket as I was indoors all the time but for the brief moment I was in the porch to look at the partial lunar eclipse I used my 16x50 binoculars and wore my grey deerstalker which I haven't properly worn for about three years. I'd usually go with my fedora but the swoop in the front would get irritating with such large binoculars. shakeshead
