After finding a mint pair of Geo.E.Keith wingtips in a thrift store yesterday for $30:00, I popped into a different thrift shop this morning, and guess what I found; a mint ( read no mark on top, bottom, or inside ) pair of dark brown alligator cap toe shoes in my exact size ( 8 ). The price? what else but $30:00.
I got them home and under closer scrutiny, found they're made in England, with a gold stamped logo inside indicating, "Carrol & Co--Beverly Hills". Well, I jumped on the internet and did some research with very happy results. Wow, Wow, Wow!!! I've got to figure out how to post pictures so I can show off these two great finds; I'll try later today to work it out.
Until then, thanks for putting up with my excited babble.

I'll Lock Up
Hail to the thrift stores...

There are some days when you're just on a streak. It's happened to me when in one day, in two different stores, I'll have picked up a couple of swell Bold Look ties. My best day was when I picked up an excellent Borsalino Allesandria, brown felt fedora for $2.99; same hat new on Internet ranges between $250-$300.

Yep, please post pics.

Carroll & Co. is a high end store. With some pics we might be able to figure out who made them. Take a pic of the sole as well as any interior numbers and markings.

Congrats on the great finds!

workin' on posting pix

Thanks to you all for the kind words and info. I'll try to get the picture posting issue sorted out as soon as possible. I was going through some of my other shoes and found an interesting pair of wingtips ( brown ) sold by Wilkes-Bashford in 'Frisco. After reading their website I think they may be Bontoni's.
It says made in Italy, but I don't know if more than one shoemaker there makes shoes for Wilkes-Bashford. I'm on the hunt now and expect I'll get pictures soon.
Thanks again,
Frankie Lamb
