Slightly Sinister Children of the Golden Era

Maybe they're from the '50s. Even so, they're the kids of golden era parents, so they carry their genes. Or so the adverts indicate.

I had to study advertising...

...in journalism school, and there were entire books dedicated to the unrealistic manner in which black folks were treated in the 30s-50s in advertising. They called it racist.

If it's racist to depict a small black boy eating a slice of watermelon (one example I remember), is it also racist to depict white children as a) demon spawn slavering over pork n' beans, b) stealing cookies off a store shelf and stuffing themselves like gluttons, or c) making a huge mess with cereal that they're certain not to clean up?

Oddly, I don't think people look at it that way.

Check out the croquet mallet meat tenderizers! Although in my house, the brother playing the accordian would have been tenderized into stopping! lol

Coke-a-Cola stopped trace amounts of cocaine in 1929.
7-UP stopped use of lithium in 1950.

Children depicted as the evil little monsters they can be. How refreshing. Playing the accordian back then was like playing the guitar is now. Alot of well rounded kids were forced to enjoy accordians. Cooking steaks in the fireplace: Now that is a little whacked.lol
