Has anybody checked this suit out at Bachrach? Any opinions? It looks like a great summer suit, but I've never bought a Bachrach suit. How do they stack up?
Wow, I have never seen that before in seersucker. Though, the proportions of those lapels aren't exactly vintage.
Seersucker suits are usually notch lapels, as the first ones by Brooks Brothers were.
Still, that is a very interesting suit, though I have never heard of the company.
I used to get a lot of pretty conservative stuff at Bachrach, like sweater vests and silk rep ties, but then in the mid-90s or so they went all avant garde and I stopped shopping there. Their latest catalog is still pretty trendy, but has some interesting items.
Hem, take a look at their take on the safari sport coat. That orange collar is a bit much, and it only has one breast pocket, but it looks halfway decent. I also like the Western Knit Shirt. It has the scalloped pocket flaps of the Indian pattern bush shirts and jackets, which I really like. $48 is a bit steep for a sport shirt, though.
I wouldn't be put off by that orange felting under the collar. J Crew started doing that about three years ago for hipsters who flip up their collars. Keep it down and it's not an issue. It's a nice jacket, but not inexpensive. Also, you can't really see it there.
I've got a three-piece suit from them about 7 or 8 years ago and its held up pretty well. The weight of the fabric is great, but the vest is cut a little too high. Overall quality is better than a lot of what I see out there today. The suit I bought was made in Italy, but looks very British.
