I was awake when I should have been pushing up ZZZZZZzzzs. The Saint comes on (I thought I had seen very episode when I was 14 - wrong!) and here is ST wearing a Norfolk 60s style beltback! Bizarre ...like the opposite of everything we hold dear and love like - 60s thin lapels, thin belt and a 'meaness' in the fabric and cut but nevertheless intriguing.....

Over to you BK and MC for your views on this Cookie discovered 60s phenomenon....

Do you remember the name of the episode? I have a couple DVDs on loan and that sounds familiar. I can get some screencaps if anyone's interested.

Da Da da da da.. Doh!

It was (unusually) one in the Netherlands involving a Jewel robbery of the Irish father of the female interest.

Those "Norfolk" styled jackets were popular for a few years in the 60's- would have been curtting edge fashion, so its no wonder ST would have been wearing them. Plus, Roger Moore is a notorious clothes horse, so he probably would have been glad to wear it.

The one with the twin models? Yep, I've got that one. I'll get some pics tonight.

Okay, maybe I don't have that one. In "A Double in Diamonds," Simon wore only two suits in the whole thing, and neither was a beltback. So now I'm very puzzled, since I know he has one in one of the seven episodes I've got; but none of the rest involve a jewel robbery. [huh]

As a consolation prize, I did get some pics of a double-breasted waistcoat.

It tends to buckle at every opportunity...

...because it has only three low buttons on the edge of the overlap.

Note how the lower edge of the overlap cuts back toward the center.
