I put these on theyard sale find but starting a thread hoping to get more exposure. Does anyone recognize the stamping on these. The tea pot, sugar bowl and tray all all stamped the same. I am thinkking they are English stamps but not sure of age. From the 70's maybe? Any help?
thanks

They're "maker's marks" - you might Google that and see if you can find out anything. I've seen similar on Antiques Roadshow and Cash in Your Attic from the BBC. I believe they're all registered and it can tell you maker plus silver content (if it's plate, if it's something more, and maybe rough idea of when it was made).

It's a mixed set, too. You have a teapot & sugar bowl that match but no creamer. The water pitcher is a different manufacturer or pattern (look at the legs), and it looks like the tray may be a third pattern or manufacturer as well.

The pitcher might be a higher grade of silver since it's showing signs of lots of tarnish. Unless you recently cleaned and polished the teapot & sugar bowl, it might only be "hotel silver" which I believe is just highly polished nickel. The plus is it doesn't tarnish.

thanks all. I did polish the tea pot and sugar bowl. The tray matches the tea pot and bowl as it has the same 3 stamps. The pitcher is marked Leonard Silverplate and as you stated a different pattern. I was thinking of using the pitcher in my WWII tent as war booty. I went to several web sites with makers marks. You can imagine how many there are....
thanks again
