shrinking a 8 panel cap

is it possible to shrink an 8 panel cap a full size down say from a 59 to a 58?
I've seen a brand new city sport cap (at a good price)that's a size too big, how do these size up and would it be worth the trouble?

esteban, yes its possible, use, not to hot water an soack it! It shrinks minimum one size!
I made it on an 8 panel cap with size 57 too 56. If the cap is not really dry, wear it or put it on a hatblock in your size!

You can sew it a number smaller!

from 58 to 56 like so! Sewn together with two small seams

Yep, wool hats will shrink. Just add moisture. I'd advise wearing it until it dries otherwise it might fit your small child.

Why shrink it? The only dimension you want smaller is the sweatband area which can easily be reduced by sewing in 1 or more overlaps or pleats. Padding also works just like a felt--if no ability gto access under the band a second layer of fabric could be attached on top.
