Snappy lookin' snapper, Bob. I'm a big fan of the iridescent fabrics and little details that were prevalent during that era. Space age swank. Clip-on or otherwise.

And of course, there's that advantage factor if you ever find yourself in a tussle and some mook tries to strangle you with your tie, the split second of confusion when it snaps off in his hand like a lizard's tail is enough to land a few upside his head and hopefully turn the situation to your favor.

Although I'm in 1930's/40's ties now, I really like the design of these skinny ones!
Collected a couple of them I have to show some other time...

With these 2 I have some problems and maybe someone could help me:
German "Tie House - Cologne - Karl Becker" - pure silk
construction is 30's/40's - measurements & labels would tell me 60's - 4" x 55-1/2"
Please help!

Next one is quite clear:
30's/40's German silky tie - "Ro-Ha ties" (don't know anything about at the moment) - 4" x 50"

And the last one for today:
1930's (or even late 20's?) tie - no labels - think silk-mix - British? Got it from the 'bay.uk
A shorty: 2-3/4" x 45-1/2" - There's also this special stiching at the neck.

I bought a box of ties for €2 and fished out a few good things. These two soft, wool ties with fringe ends:

There are few more bits, 40s/50s ties and good quality new ties as well. Bargain at €2.

Even 60s ties such as these can retain the construction methods of the 30s-40s untipped ties with the single layer of interlining, the 3-fold and the narrow neck section which makes that thin knot. It's not unusual. Even the asymmetrical cut is sometimes still used, although obviously it's less conspicuous due to the narrower blades.

Had a little luck at the thrift store this evening.

First up a couple of skinny early 60s, maybe late 50s

The brown one on the right is a Regal. I forgot to get a shot of the label. The other one is unlabeled.

Unlabeled 40s or early 50s hand painted.

And my personal favorite of the lot....

50s Wembley.

There were a couple more unlined, probably 40s ones in plain striped patterns but they were in pretty rough shape. I struggled with whether to buy them anyway or not, but then I found a nice tweed overcoat in my size too, so I had to prioritize my spending.

Know what you mean... On Saturday I ambled around on one of the biggest flea markets here and there was nothing except for a bunch of awful 70's/80's polyester monsters!

Here's the first bundle of skinny German late 50's/early 60's ties I own - my grandfathers ones...
The purple-red Trevira one with the creme pattern is great.
And look at the bulgy shape of the red-blue-black striped!

Those are some neat ties! I especially like red and black the one on the left in the first picture.
