I make my own tie rods out of cardboard. Flat blade edges are evil.

The 60s trevia ties are indeed german and many of them can be found for cheap on german fleamarket. Most of them are red like yours but with various pattern. I could offer to buy you some but they wouldn't have the same personal value as the one from your grandfather. Anyway, if you are interested shoot me a pm.

Picked this beauty up from a thrift store I've never visited up until yesterday. Burgundy silk with nice white and blue inlays. It's my first foreign vintage tie. I don't quite know in what decade to place it because it has the exact same cut, build, and stitching as my 1930's Arrow but also strikes me as 1950's in dimensions. It's 51" long and 3-3/8" at the widest. Thoughts?

This is my entire collection of vintage ties from the "Bold Look" era, thus far. It's about a quarter of my overall tie collection but the one era I've decided to concentrate on. I'm selling off all my others on eBay - well over 200 in all, from the 50's, 60's 70's, to present.

Very nice. I find it amazing that of all the thousands and thousands of 40s-era ones I've seen and come across that yours are still ones I don't recognize. A few in from the right are mid-50s and are very similar, though.
