Just a couple of days ago, I picked this old 3-button sack/tail coat up at an antique store for $15. It is VERY small, but I am a very small man, so it fits me quite well! It is most certainly pre-WWI based on the cut, the lining (which is most definitely silk), and the nature of the sun fading, which has turned the black wool into a greenish color (I actually find this quite delightful). The absence of a breast pocket on the exterior leads me to believe that it could be 1880s/1890s, but as there is no tag of manufacturer, it is a bit harder to be sure. The amber piping down the inside was also a much more common feature in jackets this early (most of this information comes from a friend I know who has far more knowledge about antique clothes than I do). There are 2 interior chest pockets, 1 small pocket set below the left chest pocket, and 2 tail pockets. Another feature I absolutely love about these pre-1920s jackets is the arched stitching detail on the backs of them, which creates a slanted v-shaped on the back -- something about it has always looked far more elegant to me.

It's got a lot of holes throughout, none too big and none of which penetrate "to the other side" of the garment, but it is a great "kick around" jacket for casual events. The sleeve lining needs to be re-attached a little to the armpits, but is in no way irreparably damaged. A great find, for sure, and a nice looking jacket, in my opinion.

Saw this Pakistan made leather trucker jacket in the thrift store today. It was well used and the cowhide was super thick. Fit ok thru the body but the arms were huge. Left it on the rack.
