Another charity shop find, a 'Sammy' scarf (probably from the 1960s). It's not a particularly exciting scarf but it is unusual to find brown ones, so it might go nicely with a camel coat.
As is often the case, it was among the women's scarves in a charity shop. Luckily for me, a lot of men don't think to look through the women's scarves:

I seem to be the only person who posts in this thread, oh well ....

This is my latest. It's a modern silk by 'Peckham Rye' (in Newburgh Street in London). They have a wonderful selection and really care about their products.

Here's a close up of the paisley pattern:

I'll keep you company, Two Types! Love scarves...and I love this thread. Don't think my pics are as good as yours though!

Here's a lovely vintage Tootal muffler I found a couple of weeks ago at a thrift shop:

This one has no label but it's one of my favourites. I wear it quite often. Again, a thrift store find (actually all of my scarves are).

Last one for now...a silk Forsyth:

I have a number of wool-backed silk scarves as well...I'll post some of those next. They tend to be newer.

Aw, heck...not doing anything else...may as well continue!

This one is one of my favourite wool/silk jobs. No label but I really like the colour and pattern.

I find that if I'm wearing a coat, I wear a scarf. Living in Canada, that means 8 months out of the year I can wear scarves! Never thought I'd be speaking the praises of a cooler climate! I find the scarves really complement the fedoras and caps quite well.

DNO, there are some smashing designs there - really distinctive. The Tootal one with the 'lifebelt' type design is really unusual. I must say my favourite is the one with the sort of wobbly ble and red pattern. I'd be proud to wear that one. Very, very good.

Toronto seems to be a good place for scarves. It is always nice to see vintage scarves that aren't paisley. Although I love paisley (my children have said I should have a paisley pattern tattooed onto my arm!) it's such a nice change to see other designs - and some of yours really hit the mark.

These days, I have a rule: I don't allow myself to buy Tootal scarves if they are Paisley (unless they are ridiculously cheap). Instead, I aim only to buy the more unusual patterns, especially the geometric designs.

The 'Tootal Muffler' label is a new one to me. But I have no idea how old it is. To me it seems old. Something about the label suggests pre-war - but I could be very wrong.

Keep posting in here. I'm sure there are plenty of amazing designs still to be found.

Thanks for the kind words, T T.

The blue and red wobbly one is currently my favourite. It's a lovely scarf.

The "tebilized" reference on the Tootal muffler seems to refer to an anti-creasing process that came into use in the '40's.

Toronto does, indeed, seem a good place for scarves. I've made some lucky finds in the past few months.

I'll post some more pics eventually...mostly modern designer stuff though.

Toronto is great!

DNO- I was in Toronto, Dundas and Guelph 3 weeks ago. I bought my brown scarf in Toronto at a place on Queen Street called Caberet. I don't have permission to attach pictures yet but it is in my profile page

Hope you enjoyed your visit, Hunt49! Great winter to visit...a real non-winter. No snow, no slush...nice. Haven't been to Cabaret. I tend to haunt the thrift stores, the rummage sales, the house contents sale, etc. Did you go to the Sunday antique market at the St. Lawrence Market? Just picked up a paisley Tootal scarf there for a song!

I was in Toronto last summer (when it was way too hot for wearing scarves). I bought a selection of ties from 'Cabaret'. I liked the shop. In particular, the man working in there was friendly (in a way you sometimes don't find in a certain kind of vintage shop). They had an interesting collection of modern silk bow ties in quite vivid patterns. I didn't get the name of the designer, but i think he was a one man operation working out of the States. He was actually in the shop at the time delivering some bow ties.

I just wish I had been able to spend more time searching the city for second hand clothes etc. Unfortunately I only had a few days, I was with the family and I had a broken toe which meant I couldn't spend hours pounding the streets looking through thrift stores. And it was so damn hot! Maybe I should go back in the winter.

Thanks for visiting TT. This winter is spectacular...a real non-winter (unusual for us). Unfortunately it seems the flip side is a hot summer! We've had a few scorchers in the last few years. I was in London several times back in the '80's. Wonderful city. I'd go again in a flash.
