This was part practising lighting/portraiture and part an excuse to finally get some good photos of this suit.

Yes and no. The buttonholes are handsewn and working, but unbuttoning them is pointless as the sleeves are sewn shut, and the split in the lining inside the sleeve is sewn together. Marc is probably right about that past alteration.
(PS: is that one of the Revamp team in the second photo?)
Thanks Marc, thats what I thought when I first saw the photo. She does have a great sense of style! (and as I wear my Duke shirt today I must add a dap hand at clothing design and construction!)
