This was part practising lighting/portraiture and part an excuse to finally get some good photos of this suit.

Bit more modern than many suits on here- a 1961 Henry Poole.

Nice! Interesting the way the sleeve buttons start so far from the cuff - are they working buttonholes?

Yes and no. The buttonholes are handsewn and working, but unbuttoning them is pointless as the sleeves are sewn shut, and the split in the lining inside the sleeve is sewn together. Marc is probably right about that past alteration.

Yeah, thought that was the most likely reason. Still a very nice suit though, with nice overall balance of colours. Enjoy it!

Classic stuff Marc. Looks like you just wandered into a posh 1920s golf club's auditorium where they were rehearsing a scene from "Private Lives".:eeek:

Marc,

Top class!:eusa_clap

The country look of plus fours is perhaps my favorite vintage style (with white tie and tails a close second). Really a perfect suit for you. (PS: is that one of the Revamp team in the second photo?)

Thanks Marc, thats what I thought when I first saw the photo. She does have a great sense of style! (and as I wear my Duke shirt today I must add a dab hand at clothing design and construction!)

Gone.
Ginger herringbone plusfours suit.

Somehow I can't post any pictures anymore...been gone too long.
Here it is:

Anyway, I think that beltback book is a great idea! Look at some of Rin Tanaka's books, Michael Harris' Jeans of the Old West...nothing like it on vintage suits. There should be heaps of interest.
(Hope they won't close this thread now, too)
