I lived in the area and remember Judge Johnson's mid 60's battles with Wallace and others. Those were turbulent times in the Heart of Dixie. They were also times of lots of fedoras on the heads of so many interviewed for news spots.
Interesting to note that he hailed from a county in Alabama that opposed secession during the Civil War. Wallace was actually a classmate of his.

Crusty, wonderful, old SOB.

I have two autographs and one is from Chuck Yeager.

In 2003 he was the guest of honor at an annual festival held in the city where I worked. I was the Sgt. of a small unit typically tasked with coordinating security for the event. We did dignitary escorts, and personal security among a bunch of other things associated with dog and pony shows.

For about a four hour period Yeager was about the grounds with local VIP's and a young woman, Victoria, who was only identified as his assistant. A subordinate and myself were responsible for staying with him. After about fifteen minutes it became apparent that he had a potty mouth unrivaled by anyone I'd ever heard, myself included. As we're walking through crowds, people are stopping him for autographs and photos. It's a balloon festival so they're are lots of children. At the VIP tent where Yeager spent most of his time, people lined up for autographs. The other officer and I quickly learned to step between Yeager and children as they approached in order to get his attention as he would then tone down his language for a brief moment. Victoria also assisted in this.

I was given a commemorative ball cap that I asked Yeager to sign. Victoria was right by his side when I asked him to sign it with just his signature. After he did Victoria took me aside and said "if that hat turns up on eBay, I'll be talking to your ass". Quite a girl. I think she's his wife now.

He was great guy and fun to be around. Never stopped talking and loved to tell his stories.
