Shearling question

Has anyone had shearling in a button up heavy leather jacket? I'm contemplating an Aero teamster with shearling and am soliciting advice from the crowd.

I haven't personally any experience with it, but am contemplating a J -106 with shearling lining. Teamster would be great, the bootlegger also goes great with shearling lining.

Thanks for the post Bunyip. I know to accommodate shearling you are supposed to size up one shell size. Images on the forum of the thunder bay seem to be when loungers get the jacket right out of the box and they tend to look "poofy" for lack of a better word.

I wonder if anyone has a pic of a shearling lined jacket like we're talking about (Teamster, Etc...) after a bit of wear. Does the "poof" get tamed?

Thunderbay differs from other designs in that it was made specifically to accommodate the sheepskin. I would ask Holly about what size to order, but a shearling lining can add a real kick to a jacket - Simon of this parish has an amazing looking Hercules he had adapted to take one.

I can’t see why it shouldn’t work fine with a button up jacket. The iconic British double breasted sheepskin coats of the late forties through to the sixties had very think hide compared to the sheepskin coats of today.

In the case of Aero or other companies jackets, in my experience it works well in some and not others. A HWM or other jacket with strap adjusters at the belt line or hips will work well, as will looser jackets, like a coat like a Barnstormer I had once with a shearling lining. But a HB with side straps can be problematical if the straps are pulled in. Since it bunches the shearling lining there giving a thick waist effect. I had a HB with a shearling lining where that happened and it didn’t really work.

For a good fit, you ought to go through Carrie and Wade. Doesn't cost extra and they can give great advice on what you are asking about.

I ordered a CXL HH brown Long Half Belt with shearling lining last year thru Thurson. Love the jacket but if I did it again (and I may!) I would have gotten the Vincenza leather because the CXL HH w shearling is a very stiff and thick jacket! It sure is warm though!
Don't have any fit pics and I imagine it will take another year to break in.

I'd love to see a fit pic!

I've thought about goatskin or vincenza for that same reason. My vincenza is probably my favorite but seems a little delicate in regard to scratches compared with My FQHH jackets, so I was hesitant to go that route.
