Shaggy Stetson

I found this shaggy Stetson today and hope to glean some information from all the hat wizards on this forum.

It's a 5X fuzzy shag pelt kinda camel colored, 3 3/4 inch brim and an almost 6 inch crown. Coolest Stetson I've seen for a while. I would be grateful for any comments.

Hmm, sweatband and liner look 70's or 80's-ish.

Interesting, I didn't realize that particular liner went back that far. And I have no clue on how to date sweatbands.

I think it's the same as mine but I have in brown. Same liner print colors, same Stetson crest, same 5X...

Yup, I believe it's the same hat, in a different color.

So what did Stetson call this felt?

I kinda like 'shaggy dog' or 'longhair'. LOL

I really like this hat, and I'm considering keeping it, but realistically, I have enough hats.

Lotsahats is 100% right. There is no such thing as too many hats... though I have noticed my wife does not agree with me... which.... is something I'm used to.

I know someone found one of those furry hats in whiskey but pounced it and turned it to a... normal hat :( and now you can't tell it was once a furry one.

Resistol made same finish and called it "Panda".
Some pictures of my Resistol Panda:

I love my two furry ones. I too think I have enough hats, but I'm with Lotsahats. I would want it depending on the price (and for now I can't pay much for another one...)

:suspicious: Is that even a thing?

You know that I thought as soon as I wrote that that I needed to make the comment that I knew saying that was anathema to TFL members, and you'all just reinforced that.

Don't get me wrong, I love hats, specially fedoras, and I have had lots and lots of hats, but right now I'm in a space where I just don't need that much 'stuff' in general and I find my life much less complicated with less stuff.

I like that furry look. I'll try to remember to put my whisky in the right place. LOL

Oh yes, beary nice hat, looks to be the same color and shagg as my Stetson.

What's it worth in your opinion?

I love the shaggy hats too. I got one a few years ago that was like those westerns above (mine was in a cream color) with a 4 inch brim. I did exactly to it what Joao hates. I cut it down and turned it into a fedora. It worked well enough, but after that I vowed to never cut a hat down again. It just didn't feel right doing it.

As to my wife, Flick, I am unfortunate in the shoe department. She doesn't have that many, really. I can't imagine she has more than 6 or 8 pairs. No, in this family I am the collector. I have nothing to back me up that'a way,

I found it very odd someone picking a furry hat and pounce it... to make a hat that looks like many others. It lost that thing that made it "spark" from others.

Thanks. The ticket on the Resistol says silverbelly. The first time my friends saw it, they said it was plush.

It all depends... I got mine from ebay.
I won the Stetson for $32.10 and the Resistol for $46.25 (both prices without shipping).
Probably I would pay $50 for it, but someone may... "outbid" me ;)

And now you regret it. :(

And you certainly don't need anything, as long as you are happy/satisfied.

Agreed.

In the pictures, the color looks similar to mine, and mine is not silverbelly. I has a creamy tan camel color to it. Very distinct.

Thanks for your assessment. I'm thinking more and more to keep this hat. Something about it made it come my way, and even more, stick in my consciousness, and until I discover that, I guess it's staying.

If you want to get rid of it, I candidate to keep it.

oh... so you're not keeping it :(

Well, something came up that I want more, and secondary to budgetary constraints :eusa_doh: I needed to sell it. I have more than a few hats, but only one head.

Good luck with the sale...

Thank you.

3 times more than I had payed for mine...

Congratulations on getting those excellent deals.

I believe it's easily worth the money I'm asking. Every penny. It really is that nice of a hat.

But it is just a little too flamboyant for my style. But my girlfriend really likes it, LOL.
