Sew a 1920s dress with modern day pattern?

Hey everyone!

So, I'm invited to a 1920s, early 1930s Party and I have no idea what to wear. I'm not perfectly shaped for the 1920s, I got from everything a bit too much, but I want to make this work. I found a dress that I really like, that would suit me just fine as it's shaped at the waist (I know, it was all straight lines back then, but I really need some shaping, otherwise I look like a wale  ).

Do you guys think it's any good? I hope I can sew it from this modern Burda pattern:

As it is shown in the second picture, it doesn't look very 20s. But you should be able to jazz it up a bit. I'm not too much of a 20s person myself, so I'm probably not the best one to give advice. But just to get it going...
The fabric will be important, like the flower pattern in the first picture already gives it a vintage look. I wouldn't use regular cotton but rather some sheer fabric, like rayon or maybe georgette.
Fabric covered buttons would be really nice on such a dress. Or at least very neat small buttons, maybe made of glass?
Since you seem to be worrying about figure issues, you probably don't want to add the tipical fringe or tassle decor?
How about putting some accent on the hips? I'm thinking Singin in the rain

or Modern Millie

An accent on the hips could give it a twenties look, no matter if you go with our without waist ;)
Accessoires and styling will be as important as the dress. Mary Janes, waterwaves, a stole or boa, feather fascinator, things like that can do a lot for you.
