SEVEN PAIRS OF SUMMER TROUSERS!

NWT Press ducks, vintage Madras, Nantucket Reds, and more!

1) J. Peterman white cotton trousers. Flat front and cuffed. These do have some small brown marks--possibly from hangers?--but although I found these while photographing I can't find them now! Very Good condition. Tagged 40. Waist: 19 5/8; Inseam: 30 1/2 (+1) with 1 3/4" cuff. Asking just $20, or offer, shipped in the USA.

Incidentally, J. Peterman was started in 1987 by John Peterman, who had once played baseball for the Pittsburgh Pirates. The brand was intended to take the place of Banana Republic, which had just been purchased by The Gap and which Peterman (correctly) foresaw would soon lose its way. To this end Peterman specialized in offering well-made clothing that reproduced iconic items of clothing, items that had romantic associations, or items that had appeared in popular films, all of which were advertised with background stories and the occasional hyperbole about their likelihood to make the wearer more attractive and successful.

This marketing approach was successful, but led to the company being mocked on the TV show Seinfeld, with Elaine's boss being the "world traveler and bon vinant" J. Peterman. As a trivial aside, the actor who played J. Peterman on Seinfeld was hired by the company to play an investor in its TV commercials, and became a member of their Board of Directors.

(J. Peterman is still going strong, and the hyperbole on their website is as overblown as always!)

4) Brooks Brothers MILANO trousers. SOLD

5) Nantucket Reds from Murray's Toggery Shop. The original and the best--a true Ivy summer icon! Flat front and cuffed. In excellent condition. Waist: 18; Inseam: 30 1/4 (+1), with 1" cuff. Asking just $35.

6) Brooks Brothers seersucker trousers. SOLD

7) NWT, New Old Stock J. Press cotton ducks. Authentic Cotton ducks are almost never seen anymore, and so this is a rare chance to grab a new pair! These were Made in the USA, and flat-front, and brand new with all tags attached--and so the hems are unfinished, ready to be hemmed to your specifications. These are New Old Stock ducks and so have considerable markings from storage, and so they need to be laundered, or possibly bleached to bring them back to their original pristine whiteness. As such, despite being NOS and NWT they are in Good condition currently, but could be bleached back to Excellent. As such, these are a steal at just $29, or offer. Tagged 40. Waist: 19 3/4; Inseam: 38 (unfinished).
