Selvedge jeans

Hope this is the correct place to post this question.
I just bought a pair of really nice, selvedge jeans. They are about 4" too long. Normally I would get my pants - including jeans, properly hemmed.
Should these be left alone - with the 4" of extra length just hand rolled up each time I wear them or should they be hemmed also?

Guys in this country hadn't worn cuffs on their jeans since the 1950's, at least until very recently. I think you'll find, though, that if you give it a try you'll come to like wearing them that way. As Handymike says above, don't have them hemmed until you've given them a few washes: then you can decide what you want to do.

I always wash new pants/jeans before hemmig. And all my pants are hemmed - jeans included, but since these are my only selvedge jeans, I was considering just rolling them up. And I'm guessing the rolled cuffs should not be more than about 2" too.

In the 50's my uncle would visit my Mom (his sister).. She hated his cigarette smoking so would not put out an ashtray for him....undeterred he would light up and place the ashes in the cuff of his jeans. That always impressed the hell out of me, that and him using the thigh of the jeans to strike the wooden match.
