Seabiscuit "George Woolf" Bootlegger.

There is a scene towards the end of the movie Seabiscuit where the Red Pollard confronts Charles Howard (with Tom Smith and George Woolf (riding Seabiscuit) present) about not allowing him (Pollard) to ride Seabiscuit in the upcoming race.
Woolf is wearing a great looking leather jacket similar to Aero's "Bootlegger" design..angled front zipper, short waisted, double lapel.

The pocket configuration is different than Aero's however...a short horizontal zipper pocket on the left top rather than Aero's long angled top zipper, the side pocket on that side brought foward more, angled about the same amount a Aero's Bootlegger pocket but in the opposite direction...the line of the lower pocket, if continued up to wards the shoulder, would meet the medial edge of the horizontal top pocket.

Really a great look.
Anybody know who made the jacket for the movie?
Think Aero would be willing to duplicate the pocket arrangements?

Any chance of pictures? I don't quite remember it, but I know what you're getting at. I'm sure Aero would be very ready to modify as per your specs; sounds like only minor mods, really, nothing that would be any hassle for them.

The thing I know, sure a lot here know it already, the jacket Tobbie is wearing in the movie is an AERO Halfbelt. So it would be possible that the jacket you are looking for has also be made by AERO.

I can't find any stills of the scene.
Woolf is only in a couple of shots sitting on Seabiscuit, and it's hard to see if there are any pockets on the right side of the jacket. Looks like there are only 2 on the left.
The leather looks like a lighter brown than what I've seen on Aero jackets.

I didn't realize McGuire's jacket was an Aero.
Maybe they did do "Woolf's" jacket too.

I think there are several threads here about this jacket. Hope this link works to one of them....or search under "Seabiscuit".
However...Ken Calder(Aero) stated on another forum that his company did not make any jackets for Seabiscuit. Seems to me,though, that the Aero "Californian" in Russett buffalo...(that looks like vintage goat)...with an added chest pocket would be a close match...and drape much the same as the one pictured in the above thread. Looking closer at you posts,Jeff..it does look like you are discribing a different jacket..that I'm not familiar with.

Yep.
The one I am talking about is worn by the actor playing George Woolf, briefly shown in one scene towards the end of the movie.
It's a "Bootlegger" style jacket with a different pocket style than Aero uses on their Bootlegger..

Hi, I do not want to produce any legends that Toby´s jacket is an AERO. I read it on the websibe of the german dealer "Kentaurus". after reading the text again, it could also mean that Toby wears a half-bellted Cossack, witch is simular to the AERO Half-Belt.

I was talking with Will from AERO about VIP´s owning AERO´s and I think to remember that we were talking about this jacket too. But I could be wrong!! Over 40 the brain begin to live in fantasies.

So long

Will once mentioned that Aero did not make any jacket for the Seabiscuit film production but he said it could be possible that it was still a slightly altered and aged Aero jacket that was purchased via private customers.

Looking at the title of this thread I thought the 'Seabiscuit' reference was just a snide word for horsehide - quite a few years ago I had a hh jacket that was referred to more than once as 'Shergar...' (Shergar being a famous racehorse who was kidnapped/horsenapped in 1983 and disappeared for good).

So good taste still rules at FL!
