Does anybody have one or two certain, constant things about the way they dress that's always there, and would make it uniquely "you", even if by all other points somebody else wore exactly the same thing? A sartorial trademark, if you will. And how did you come to acquire it? To explain what I mean, I'll start with an example.
Me, I always wear argyle socks. No matter what I'm wearing*, be it casual, sporty, or dressy, jackets, boat shoes, oxfords, bow ties or long, I have a love affair with argyle socks and pretty much don't wear anything else anymore.
I started trying them out after seeing a photo of Jack Webb as Joe Friday -- he was kneeling on the floor and his pant leg had ridden up, and there it was, argyle. It really caught my eye because here's the conservative, ultra-plain Joe Friday, and he was wearing those. I went out and bought a cheapo pair from Target, and now I'm hooked. Aside from the look, I guess it helps that all the argyles I find are thick, heavy, warm material with lots of elastic -- just the way I like socks.
Anybody else?

(* the only time I wouldn't, is if I ever had the opportunity to don formalwear... that'd just be wrong. )
