I cant really find a suitable section to put this question in so hopefully you wont be offended if I ask here:

Just watched the fantastic Red Army soldiers dance group on You Tube. Since the collapse of the Soviets is there still a Red Army dance ensemble? I have tried to 'Google' it but always the old Soviet Union Youtube clips pop up.
Is this still performed today, I do hope so.
Guess thats where the hip hop kids got the ideas for their moves from.
Cheers, J

Then as now the "Alexandrov Ensemble" of the Russian Army ("Red Army" until 1946, "Soviet Army" until 1992) consists of a choir and dancers/ballet.

Truly amazing the fitness level that must be attained to perform these dances.
Here is another clip.

It all starts simple then each member tries to better his fellows.

The guy with the accordion is amazing here at 4:28

This was quite a popular feature in 1960s variety shows but as kids it was always known as 'Cossack' dancing.
