Ruffian

Did anyone catch Sam Shepard in 'Ruffian' last night?
About the race horse from the mid 1970's.
Good film with some good hats in it.
Mr Shepard always looks good in a hat.

I started to watch in and fell asleep. Not because it was boring though. Great hat movie. I'll have to catcha repeat.

I hope to catch it in rerun soon. My grandfather (http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/588/dbhfishingabout1932qv6.jpg)
was a jockey, and later an exercise rider. He worked a lot at Belmont Park. One day in 1938 he was exercising a horse at Belmont and was thrown. He broke his leg. It didn't mend properly, they rebroke it, and it never healed. They amputated in 1939. After 11 years of continuous agonizing pain, he took his own life in 1950.
So I have certain emotional connection to that story. I remember seeing that match race and I'll never forget it. Totally heartbreaking. And just recently Barbaro. Horse racing is a beautiful exciting sport, but nothing compares with it for danger and deadliness.

To be honest, I clicked on this thread 'cause I thought Ruffian might be a kind of hat.
