If you know someone who is working at Ralph Lauren, you can get huge discount. Anyway, I already have the 1928H.

The whole collection looks great. Intrigued by (though probably wouln't buy) the B10ish jacket with the triangulae leather oxygen-mask clip points of a B15A on it.... As well as the D pocket there's a lovely looking jacket that's very similar to the Aero Bootlegger on there. I'm sure they'll all be nice pieces, but yeah, the price tags.... ouch. Shame, because I'm really very taken with the "Plaid Wool Topcoat" that looks like a shawl mouton-collared version of a blanket mackinaw, except calf-length (so it looks... no5t always easy to tell without seeing it modelled). Alas, RRL are well out of my pocket. It's like a Nigel Cabourn with designs I could actually see myself wearing, but the same silly price tags....

Okay, getting one piece from that collection is okay, but one would have to be a serious poser to wear an entire getup from that site. $125 for that newsboy cap. Funny world this is - you have to pay premium to dress up like the guys on those photos who, back in the days, wore what they did because they probably couldn't afford to wear clothes that's nowadays dirt cheap.

Still, at least it looks like it's quality stuff.

In other words, it takes a lot of money to look like you don't have a lot of money.

The RRL stuff is really well designed, as always. Agree that it would be nice if Schott was putting out more special editions like this on their own. According to the site they have already sold out the larger sizes...

They do have the 629 and the 1928H. Just that for this RRL model, they use better hardware and lining. I wonder if anyone will think this is overpriced if Schott makes this with own label and charges USD 1200 to 1500 for it. Given their price of the 619, I think that's the price they will probably charge.

I haven't ever owned a Schott, so this is an assumption, but I think their entire line is overpriced by about $200-$300. $500-$600 sounds right for a premium jacket. Anything more is custom territory.

*I see their Perfecto isn't far from $600. I take it back. But some of their comparable models are like $900!

I tend to agree especially with the special edition but similar to RRL, they do give steep discounts. Went to their official store in Tokyo and found a Seal brown 613US Long at half price around 42000 yen. One can also find better prices on ebay.

Ralph Lauren and Buzz Rickson have partnered in creating a very authentic looking A-2 (they retail for $2400 but can be had much cheaper on-line and even on the 'Bay).
Some of the RRL stuff is very cool and (almost) worth the asking prices. Buying one or two items from their vintage clothing line isn't the end of the world :D
