Royal Stetson Whippet hat including box

Hello all,
To be honest with you all this is not something I would usually do, use a forum to just sell an item. But in this case I want the item to go to a person who cares for it.

I bought this 40's or 50's Royal Stetson Whippet when I was showing our antique car at a car show in 2014. Afterwards, it was never used again.

The hat is in an extremely good condition, as you can tell from these pictures. There are no signs of wearing, stains or faded area's. It includes the box, which has some roughness to it, but still does the thing it is supposed to do. Size on the label is 1/8. I took some measurements:
- Height: 5"
- Brim width: 2 3/8"
- Still doubting about the actual size on the label. When measuring the lining the length is around 20cm (more around 7 7/8"), the width is 16,5cm (which is more around 6 1/2").

I am located in The Netherlands, but ofcourse international shipping can be arranged.

For now I am putting a price of $500,- on it. It is in the range of what I paid for it, and I am convinced this is a rare chance to own a Whippet in this condition.

You need to list a price. Also the width of the brim is useful information.

Hi all, Bill Hughes pointed out to me that there might be more information behind the sweatband of the head. I never knew this. But he was right!

It states:

Size 7 1/8

On the sweatband also is a inked code: 352655

Problem is that I cannot sell this item with a reserve price on eBay unfortunately, as I don't have any experience as a seller on eBay.

Nice information behind the sweat. However, it doesn't really add anything to what was already known. It's just manufacture info.

Along with other evidence it shows that the hat is was not made in the 40s nor 50s. Or should I say just give further evidence that the hat is 1960s or later.

I too think that the smaller brim width, the black sweatband, label, etc. point to a more recent date of manufacture. The fraction only size tag makes me suspect late 1950s, but that’s just a guess.

One method I use to sell on Ebay when not willing to go pure acution. Place it with a fixed price and call for offers. Usually if your price is too far out of range you will garner no interest at all not even low ball offers. But at least it will let you know if you are indeed out to lunch on the asking price. And if you are close you may get some offers to entertain.
