Round Robin/Beauty product swap box? Anyone interested?

On another forum I participate in, we do a "round robin" beauty swap box, and I thought it might be really fun to do something similar here, if anyone is interested and the moderators approve.

The way it works is that we decide on a box size so that everyone pays the same postage - for example, a USPS large flat-rate priority mail box. We set up a sign-up deadline and some minimal requirements - must have a certain number of posts, etc to weed out any potential trolls. People sign up & we make a list of participants. Then you put in your unwanted or extra beauty products, and take out items in exchange. We keep a running list in the box where you write on what you put in, and scratch off what you take out, so there's accountability. The box must be sent with delivery confirmation, so it can be tracked (for accountability), and when you send it off, you PM the tracking # to the next person on the list. We keep an ongoing thread where you post as you get the box, and post photos of what you take out (but not what you put in - that's a surprise!) Pretty much anything that relates to beauty is allowed in - skincare, hair products, cosmetic items. New or gently used.

This would be fun because we could also add vintage products like wave clips, hairnets, vintage magazines, or old containers of rouge, as well as modern beauty items.

On the other forum we did US-only just to keep postage cost down... although I know we have a lot of UK members here. Not sure how that would work, but perhaps a topic for discussion.

Anyone interested?

I think this is a great idea!i hope I could be allowed to participate...I forget how many posts I have, not as many as some of you :)

I already have some ideas of things I would like to send along.

Is it American only? I'd understand fully - International postage from USPS can sometimes get steep, and Canada customs has a habit of holding your packages hostage at the border. I think they use them for coffee tables.

It would be wonderful except I live in New Zealand and it would not be cost-effective. I could buy myself a selection of cosmetics for the price of postage :-(

I'd be interested in including Canadian ladies, if someone doesn't mind paying the postage to send it that way, and then to send it back. Otherwise it might be best to stick to US only. Or perhaps the Canadian girls could do their own box, and then we each swap at the end?

I think i am interested perhaps we can have a US and UK swap or even a New Zealand Aussie swap if we get enough interested Ladies.

OK rereading that it didn't sound right if there are some UK ladies interested perhaps they could swap among themselves and US ladies vise versa. I don't actually think shipping to Canada is that much more expensive but it may take longer

It's not a drastic difference in money, but time is an issue going over the border - That is to say, it won't get to us in a hurry, but once we send it back it'll be fast.

To fix this problem, if there were enough Canadian ladies interested then maybe we could send it amongst ourselves in succession, then back to the States?

Postage out of New Zealand is high to everywhere, even Aussie. We don't have enough people in the country to bring prices down - not enough buying power. I used to sell little handmade things online, purses and suchlike, and had to charge more than they were worth to send them abroad. It's very annoying!

Oh, I wish this had come up before I cleaned out my stash of unused rollers and things! I would have had lots to contribute :p

Any US ladies interested?

I like C-Dot's idea of the Canadian & US ladies sending it amongst themselves in succession, then sending it across the border. That would work well!

^ Good idea, especially if there are a few NZ girls interested!

I'm willing to start the box off if we have enough people interested. I think I've got enough extras lying around I could get it going. :D

Think I should start a "sign up" thread, or do we need to get approval from a moderator or anything first?
