Thanks Flat-Top.

A Rockabilly friend told me that if "you" like American Country Music and Rock'n'Roll... then you're a Rockabilly.

I guess that makes me one then.

However, I do find some snobbery in some of the events I attend though.... I.E. your turn-ups (Cuffs) are too small then your a fake....

I wore an extra large Newsboy hat to a "do" once, I saw a couple of Philistines point to me and laugh....
oh well..... in hindsite.... maybe I did look a bit of a Wally.

Here's a few more songs..... I'm sitting in a Swedish Hotel on a Saturday night with little to do, I hope I'm not boring anyone.

This Rock'n'Roll is a little heavier:

I've got more but not sure that this forum is the place for too much Rockabilly.
But that's why I'm here, I want to know what other exciting stuff is out there.
Thanks for taking a look at the above, I hope it was enjoyed.

Mr Flat-top..... that Gig looks fantastic.... I went to Vegas about 7 years ago..... great place but after a week I was going crazy.

We have something similar.... the biggest event of it's kind in the UK.

I've been going for the last 5 years.... it's the highlight of my year now:

Cheers!

Rythm Riot gets good press in some UK magazines but I know the venue.
Pretty grim, an old UK style Holiday camp in Cambersands..... maybe some members here can convince me otherwise.

I was into Rockabilly in a big way in my late teens (about 20 years ago) and attended a few of those weekenders.

Hembsy is probably the biggest:

As I was hitting my 40s I realised it was no longer any good denying it..... I should've been born earlier than 1969..

I've now reverted back to my late teens..... my wife lives in the 21st Century though...... it'd take a lot for me to convince her to go to Rythm Riot or Hemsby

Americana... that's a different kettle of fish.

Americana is a mix of everything.....anything American.....Rock'n'Roll.... country music, Rockabilly....Civil War, RV's, Motorbike, Red Indians, People living as Settlers...Classic Cars..... vintage fairgrounds rides.... Monster trucks.... the lot.

I can't recommend it enough,

five days of American music and lifestyle, look at this line up of music:

Roll on July!!

hi lee ,the rhythm riot is my all time favourite, like you i did Hemsby in the 70s/80s and have been to vlv/hepcats etc. The rhythm riot is the friendliest festival and with all the added attractions ,like the cruise it is the highlight on my year.Especially with your Plymouth ,we could drive down in convoy!Cambersands has been renovated this year and is pretty good, certainly the food isnt cordon bleu but more than good enough.

Hi Nathalie.

I presume you meant "can't stand the style".

That's why I registered here....the Jeans and T-shirt thing can be very monotonous.

Thanks to advice read here, I've got a few places to start looking for 50s stuff that's a little less "same-y".

Do guys still roll packs of cigarettes onto their T-shirt sleeve these days? Or did the cigarette packs become chewing gum packs?
I can absolutely picture that. Talking to a fella while he unrolls his T-shirt sleeve and flips open a pack of Extra or Stride chewing gum. That would be the coolest thing to see.

JD Mcpherson tore it up this weekend at Viva Las Vegas. Certainly the highlight of a wild weekend!

At this point JD's debut album is almost like a greatest hits album. There isn't a clunker to be found. I can not WAIT for for the follow up.

:)

I dig the album very much. Being played several times a week.

Regretably will not be able to go to Hemsby. Would love to go sometime.

We'll actually be playing in Sweden soon - don't know how easy that is for you. We're doing Hultsfred Hayride and Lida Country Festival end of June ...at the moment looks like Hultsfred on Friday 29th June and Lida on Saturday 30th but dates are still being synchronised between the two festivals.
