Hello from London,

Been following this amazing resource of a forum for several years but this is the first time I decided to contribute.
Not sure of the proper etiquette: I thought I'll have introduce myself by showcasing my latest leather jacket acquisition, bought last February in Tokyo:
The Real Mc Coy's Steinbeck Sports Jacket

The jacket is a simple design and very well build with nice stitching throughout (but super pricey unfortunately in typical RMC fashion). The horsehide is thick but very soft to the touch, almost buttery.

I haven't had much opportunity to wear it yet so it's still not broken in at all. I suspect the hide will develop a nice grain like my another Shinki Flat Head jacket.
It's surfaced-dyed and quite prone to scratching I suspect - the undercoat is a very light brown, almost beige.
I would have preferred dyed-through but I chose to buy it none-the-less.
I'm interested to see how it develop over time -hopefully it will age gracefully colour-wise.

Thanks for reading. I hope it's a decent first contribution..!

Cheers,
Zaten

Cool jacket Zaten. It's a good design that can be worn on a variety of occasions, from t-shirt and jeans casual to khakis and button-down shirt semi-formal. Wear it in good health....and welcome to the exalted status of "contributing member". :p:D

Remarkable jacket! Perfectly suits you! About Real McCoy's skin, I have questions? Whether only Shinki uses Real McCoy's? And only in certain cases, at sale, there is information - Poland horsehide: Vegetable tanned, 1.3mm thickness?

Very kind (ladies and?) gents, thanks indeed for the warm welcome [emoji4]
I'm encouraged to continue contributing to this great forum.
I will be posting more pics with time to show how the jacket evolves...

@arkadijs to my knowledge at least 3 Japanese brands use Shinki: The Real McCoy's, The Fat Head and Freewheelers. A few Western brands do too: Himel, Good Wear and Simmons Bilt among others. All shinki is veg tanned and 1.3mm thickness is pretty common. I hope that answers your question?

Thanks you... Really nice to meet you all [emoji482]

@Superfluous Rainbow Country too, absolutely. Incidentally I find their single rider an absolute stunner...

@Superfluous, oh yes

Very sharp jacket and presentation, not only sinilar to my two Sheenes but even more similar to my Himel/Chapman Californian Ventura. Welcome to the Forum!

Thanks @Fanch !
I looked up your Cali Ventura pics on the forum: beautiful piece and a top-notch fit. A superb purchase.
There are indeed quite a few choices in this style: whilst I was in Japan, I was fortunate to see a gorgeous Rainbow Country in Russet and an equally impressive Freewheelers in burnt burgundy. If I'm honest, I preferred each to the Steinbeck purely from a style point of view, but the latter fit me much better so I left with it a happy man.
