RMC Buco J-24 (New fit) sizing help

Hello guys! I’m planning to purchase my first double riders jacket and specifically looking at J-24 in a new fit. The problem is that I’m not sure about the size I should go with.

I don’t have any specialized stores in my country and if I order jacket from abroad I’ll have to pay almost half the price In taxes so I would like to avoid size exchange and get it right the first time.

I am 5’11, around 175 lbs and have a chest circumference of ~ 40 inches. “T-shirt” fit will not work out because it narrows significantly the range of situations where I can wear this jacket. I want to have an opportunity to wear sweatshirts or mid sweaters underneath with comfort. However, this doesn’t mean that I want to look like I’m wearing an oversized Italian jacket from 80s-90s. Just a nice slim fit, but not too tight.

I’m in between of size 40 and 42. My main concern is that, from what I saw in the photos online, the sleeves in 42 may be way too long for my height. I’ve heard that after creasing sleeves may become shorter but I doubt they will become that shorter. And having the sleeves ending on the palm of my hand is the last thing I want to have.

I’ll be grateful for any help with determining the right size.

P.S. If someone has a double riders Buco (not necessarily a J-24) in a nice condition, that he believes will work for me, I’ll be happy to consider your offerings.

Where are you based? There may well be better and more accessible options.
I’m based in Ukraine. There’s zero opportunity to get this jacket within the country. When I need some nice clothing the only options are eBay and foreign stores.

You’re a tweener. Me too. The 40 will be a good trim fit for you. The 42 body and sleeves will be too long
You’re right and it’s often a pain in the neck. Especially considering the fact that I do all my shopping abroad which usually means no returns or additional expenses for return shipping.

Usually I tend to underestimate my body and order smaller sizes that I actually need to. But in case with Buco sleeves are my main concern.

I’ve looked through archive photos of bikers from 30s-50s and they often had tight bodies in their jackets but I’ve never seen one with long sleeves. So, maybe yes, 40 is the size to go with.

Neither new version is short enough to match old photos
You’re right but finding a real deal in nice condition and in my size may take some time and most probably will cost more than repro.
From what I know, RMC offers the closest you can get to true vintage D-pocket. Or maybe there are smaller manufacturers I don’t know about.

I liked the leather on rmc better
The LW is probably cut more like new rmc. Old rmc has trim arms.
I have bought 2 rmc leather jackets new. Both had zipper failure. They are on my don’t buy list for leather unless i get a great used deal

Got your point. Thanks for advice!
Maybe I should not hurry and reconsider all available options.

Where do you plan to order the jacket?

STUFF in Germany just restocked the RMC J-24, and that’s about the only place here I know that has them. I’ve bought a few things from them, and they have been super helpful with sizing advice.

(Off topic: I trust you are in the west of Ukraine? All the best for you and yours. I used to work in Kyiv 1998-2000, and it’s such a shame how things are now!).

I know about Stuff but never had experience of buying from them.

I was planning to get the jacket on eBay or Japanese 2nd hand websites, because it’s gonna be cheaper than buying from a store.

I am originally from Eastern Ukraine, specifically from Donetsk, which I moved from back in 2014 when it was occupied. Now I live in Kyiv.
Thanks for your support!

Yes, that makes sense. Prices for new jackets are absolutely insane outside JP.

Let us hope that this year sees a turn for the better for your beautiful country and its great people!
